Some Facts about PGWP

  • Once in a lifetime – that means you can only get it once
  • Open Work Permit – it is not employer restricted
  • Validity varies from 8 months to 3 years, depending on the length of your program
  • Validity cannot exceed the passport expiry date – therefore, It is important to make sure your passport is valid for the entire length of time your PGWP would be
  • If you submit your application while holding a valid study permit, you may start working full-time right away
  • Help you gain Canadian work experience
  • Help to support your PR application, if your work experience is under TEER 0,1,2,3 (previously called NOC 0, A, B)
