Arriving in Canada as an International Student:  Documents to Have in Hands

  1. Valid travel documents, such as a passport, eTA, visa, green card, or other valid travel documents.
  2. IRCC study permits approval letter (mandatory).
  3. Letter of acceptance from your Canadian school.
  4. Proof of tuition payment or deposit.
  5. Language test scores if required.
  6. Financial proof (GIC certificate if applicable).
  7. Study plan or statement of purpose.
  8. Accommodation confirmation or address details.
  9. Undergraduate diploma and transcripts (if needed).
  10. Valid immigration medical exam results (if applicable)
  11. Ties to your home country (especially for mature students).

Students should bring relevant documents based on their individual backgrounds and needs. It is important to note that all the required documents must be at hand when going to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Do not pack them in the checked luggage, as there will be no access to the checked luggage until the study permit is obtained.
