CBSA Officers now have the power to require international students in Canada to provide evidence that they are actively studying and complying with study permit conditions

A recent Program Delivery Updates (PDUs) states on September 26, 2022, that Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) border services officers, inland enforcement officers, and regional program officers can now ask international students in Canada for proof that they are actively pursuing their studies and are in compliant with their study permit conditions under IRPR Section 220.1.  Previously, this authority may only be exercised by CBSA at the port of entry if someone entered or exited Canada at the border.

Failure to comply with study permit conditions, work illegally, or study illegally may result in removal from Canada and negatively impact your future applications. Therefore, EGI Team suggests the students should understand and comply with their study permit conditions.  It is also wise to keep a copy of all the official and relevant documents as evidence of compliance.
