The QS World University Rankings 2024 unveiled

QS World University Rankings. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education specialist, released the twentieth edition of the QS World University Rankings. The QS rankings consider various indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and student-to-faculty ratio. Additionally, this year they have introduced three new indicators: sustainability, graduate employment outcomes, and international research network.   Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States continues to hold the top spot, followed by the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom at second place, and the University of Oxford, also in the UK, ranking third this year. ETH Zurich, ranked seventh, has maintained its position as the best university in continental Europe for the 16th consecutive year. Beijing University and Tsinghua University experienced a decline in their rankings compared to last year, ranking 17th and 25th, respectively. Australia has three universities in the top 20, and France’s Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL) University is in the top 25. The University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore are tied for 26th place.

In Canada, a total of 31 universities made the list, but only three entered the global top 100. The University of Toronto improved its global ranking significantly, moving up to 21st place from last year’s 34th position. McGill University also climbed one spot to 30th place globally but dropped to second place in the national rankings. The University of British Columbia (UBC) showed the most notable improvement, rising from 47th place last year to 34th place, maintaining its position as the third-best university in the country.
