What are the basic requirements for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program?

In order to be eligible to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency through the Canadian Experience Class CEC program under the Express Entry system, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 12 months of full-time Canadian work experience in a skilled occupation within the past three years. The skilled occupation must fall under the TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job categories.
  • Meet the minimum language proficiency requirement based on the job categories: CLB 7 (IELTS 6.0)for TEER 0 or 1 job categories and CLB 5 (IELTS Listening, Writing, Speaking 5.0, and Reading 4.0)for TEER 2 or 3 job categories.
  • Must be admissible to Canada.
  • Intend to live outside the province of Quebec.
  • There is no specific education requirement for the CEC program; however, your educational background may positively impact your ranking within the Express Entry (EE) pool.
